Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a brilliant weekend. I saw a tweet comparing our weekends now to a half an hour unpaid lunch break from work. It would have been funnier if it didn’t hit so close to home!
We spend all week working or worrying about work and then the weekend is gone in a flash! I am writing this on Sunday evening and I feel like I’ve done nothing with my weekend.
Something I tried at the start of the year to alleviate some anxiety and worry is journaling. At the end of the day I would sit down and write about what happened. It was a simple way of realising that I had actually completed quite a lot.
Oftentimes I think that a lot of people feel that their lives are slipping away from them. They may feel that they are doing nothing of importance, but if you look back on all of the things that you have done today or any day, you will be surprised at how much of yourself you have left all over the place.
Maybe you went to the shop before work for coffee and a sandwich. Your smile and conversation may stay with the cashier or the deli assistant for a while. The people you deal with and help in work wouldn’t say you’re doing nothing, would they? The dinner you make for yourself, or your kids, or your partner, is not nothing, is it?
So, when you get home from work this evening why don’t you write down some of the things you did during the day? I guarantee you’ll see you are doing quite a bit more than you give yourself credit for!
